General precautions to be taken while using ultrasonic devices are:

1.

GENERAL PROBE CLEANING

Probe cleaning is done by removing the coupling gel on the probe using a tissue paper or by using soft cloth. This will helps to avoid cockroaches or mices eating the transducer membrane.

2.
KEEP THE PROBE IN PROPPER PROBE HOLDER

To avoid physical brake and probe cable twisting use proper probe holders. Keep hardly using probes in probe boxes. Cable twisting may cause for cable cutting, this le- ad to cable replacement.
3.
DO NOT REMOVE/ RECONNECT PROBES WHILEMACHINE IS ON

A high voltage is using for Crystal firing in probes that may cause damage to the probes if it is getting connected or removed while machine is in on condition.
4.
USE MULTIPORT MACHINE

That can help to avoid repeated removal / reconnection of probes
that is not recommended. multiport machines can be used for different applications easy way by easy switching between the probes and thus applications.
5.
NEVER CONNECT NON-SUITABLE PROBES TO MACHINE

Connecting unsuitable probes to the machine may cause damage to machine or probe or both. please refer with authorised personnals before connecting new probes with machine.
6.
ALWAYS USE MINIMUM ACOUSTIC POWER

The output power controls sets the amount of ultrasonic energy transmitted into the tissues. too much power can degrade axial resolution by extending the ringing of the transducer, distort the proximal echos by cutting off the tops of the signals and introduce all sorts of noise into the image. using minimum acoustic power will extend probe crystal life.
7.
ASSURE THE DIRECTIONS WHILE CONNECTING THE PROBE

Always see the direction of the probe as per the diagram on the probe connector before connecting to the system.
8.
COVER THE PROBE FACES AFTER USE

use seperate covers to cover probe faces after the usage and cleaning before leaving the scanning room. covering entire machine also recommended.
