General precautions to be taken while using ultrasonic devices are:

1 GENERAL PROBE CLEANING

Probe cleaning is done by removing the coupling gel on the probe using a tissue paper or by using soft cloth. This will helps to avoid cockroaches or mices eating the transducer membrane.
2.
KEEP THE PROBE IN PROPPER PROBE HOLDER

Proper holder needs to be used to avoid physical damage on the probe as well as unwanted cable twisting. Keep hardly using probes in probe boxes. . Cable twisting may cause internal cable disconnection and may lead to cable replacement.
3.
DO NOT REMOVE/ RECONNECT PROBES WHILEMACHINE IS ON

A high voltage is used for Crystal firing in probes that may cause damage to the probes if it is getting connected or removed while machine is switched ON.

4.
USE MULTIPORT MACHINE

Multiport machines help the customer to switch between the probes and applications without removing the probes unnecessarily and can be used to various types of diagnosis.
5.
NEVER CONNECT UNSUITABLE PROBES TO MACHINE

The machine or the probe or both may likely to get damaged when an unsuitable probe is connected to the machine. Please check with authorized person before connecting new probes to the machine.

6.
ALWAYS USE MINIMUM ACOUSTIC POWER

The output power control sets the amount of ultrasonic energy transmitted into the tissues. Too much of power can degrade axial resolution by extending the ringing of the transducer, distort the proximal echos by cutting off the tops of the signals and introduce all sorts of noise into the image. Always use minimum acoustic power for longevity of probe crystal.

7.
ASSURE THE DIRECTIONS WHILE CONNECTING THE PROBE

Be precautious while connecting the probes to the system. Make sure the probes are connected properly as per the instruction given on the diagram/picture.

8.
COVER THE PROBE FACES AFTER USE

Clean the probes properly and use appropriate covers to secure the probe faces after the usage. Cover the entire machine as recommended.
